I went to Allieโs house on a rainy day in March after reaching out about my project to photograph talented and driven women entrepreneurs. Sheโs made delicious cakes and pies for friend gatherings that Iโve tasted and is one of the most artistic people Iโve ever met, so I was so glad that she agreed to let me photograph her.
While sipping a hot cup of coffee (thanks to her husband, Robin!), we chatted about the trials and joys of entrepreneurship and I watched her assemble her creations, so tenderly and effortlessly. Baking comes naturally to Allie, and I marveled at the beauty of her process. She uses natural ingredients and works with local suppliers as much as possible, from the berries in her fillings to the edible flowers atop cakes for garnish.
Allie has been baking professionally for a couple of years out of her cozy home in Baltimore, but has recently moved into a commercial kitchen to support the volume of baked goods she makes daily for clients throughout the East Coast. I joked that she looks so lovingly at her pies and cakes, but you can really tell that she loves her work and bringing joy to others through her delicious baked creations. You can try Bramble Bakes yourself at an upcoming event or market, and can find the full list on her website. I dare you to not get a hankering while scrolling through!
