From the moment that Ahmad reached out to me just less than one month away from their wedding date, I knew that Ahmad and Youmna's wedding would be an incredibly special one. After having to cancel their wedding in Texas due to a difficult venue, Ahmad and Youmna rescheduled and planned a wedding in Virginia - closer to family and friends - in just a couple of months. Although they both grew up in Northern Virginia, they met in Houston, TX at a bouldering gym where they continue to climb together as one of their favorite activities. When I asked Ahmad to describe Youmna to me, he said that "she doesn't even let mountains deter her from her life of service [in her career as a global surgeon]". They wanted their wedding to be simple, and to authentically focus on their marriage and commitment to one another, which made their love shine even more brightly on their wedding day. Together, they truly overcame the obstacles in their way so that they could join together in marriage on a beautiful June evening, with the blue hue of the Shenandoah mountains behind them.
